The roller presses of an Indian manufacturer of gray and white cement as well as ready-mix concrete are under heavy stress during the crushing process with a total output of 100 million tons per year. Challenge
When the roller presses are not working properly, the clinker does not have the required fineness and is therefore of poor quality. If the roller press comes to a standstill, there is a risk of production stop of 10-12 days. For many years, the customer has therefore been using special Schaeffler cylindrical roller bearings for this application.
The reason is that these bearings can withstand constant pressure, impact loads and contamination. What worried the maintenance team was the question of optimum lubrication. Previously, non-specialized lubricants were often used. This meant that more lubricant was needed, bearing life was shortened due to incorrect lubrication, and there was a higher risk of unplanned downtime
